Senior CAD Technician
Main activities and responsibilities:
  • To produce GA, detailed fabrication drawings and MTOs for mechanical and structural parts of Refrigerated Liquid Gas (RLG) storage tanks and ancillary equipment such as pipe support structures. To be in accordance with Engineers calculations and in compliance with international codes and company standards and procedures.
  • Use of 3D CAD modelling and 2D CAD to produce mechanical/structural engineering drawings for the above.
  • To be able to work with minimum supervision and to ensure all drawings are accurate and efficient in design.
  • To ensure construction/practicality issues are considered at all times.
  • Peer check detail drawings produced internally and by third party.
  • Contribute to improvements and standardisation of our processes.
  • Contribute to development & improvement by applying lessons learned and feedback from projects
Qualifications, skills, abilities:
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience.
  • Technician Certificate in mechanical or structural engineering. Proven experience can be accepted in lieu of this.
  • Understanding of engineering drawing symbols and construction techniques.
  • Proficient in the use of Tekla structures software.
  • Knowledge of other 2D and 3D CAD applications such as MicroStation, AutoCAD and SolidWorks would be advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of detailing to European codes.
  • Knowledge of steel fabrication applied to pressure vessels, pipe support structures and storage tanks would be advantageous but not essential
  • Knowledge of national and international design codes and standards applicable to RLG storage tank industry, especially API 620, 650 and EN 14620 would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office in particular Excel and Word.
  • High self-motivation, self-organizational ability, team spirit, assertiveness and experienced in working in international teams and multi-disciplinary environment.
